New Members Orientation Express Class - Sunday, May 6 - Full commitment to membership here at SEUCC is important. Perhaps, Saturday mornings are not conducive to your schedule. The New Members Assimilation team is taking this into consideration. We are planning an “Express” New Members Orientation Class specifically for you following the 12 noon Well worship experience. Please plan to participate in a one-hour session taught by Pastor Courtney Clayton Jenkins on Sunday, May 6. Orientation is required to become an official member of SEUCC. PULSE Experience Express Class - Sunday, May 6 - The PULSE Experience (Place U Love Serving Effectively) helps, especially new members, to discern how they can become connected and begin serving at SEUCC. It will be held in the Lower Level Multipurpose Room in the East building on Sunday, May 6. The BIN - Thursday, May 10 - 11 a.m. & Saturday May 12 - 10 a.m. - We are in need of persons to help unload the food truck for the BIN Ministry on Thursday, May 10between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Should you be available, please sign up at the Information Center. New Members Fellowship - Wednesday, May 23 - 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. - All persons who have completed New Members Orientation from December 2017 through May 2018, are invited to a special New Members Fellowship! This is an opportunity to meet other new members, ministry leaders and engage with Pastor Jenkins, over food, fun and fellowship. To adequately prepare, please sign up at the Information Center. Vacation Bible School - June 11 - June 15 - Volunteers Requested -Vacation Bible School is Fast Approaching! This Amazing Event will be held June 11-15, from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. If you love serving God and His children, then this is the place you will want to volunteer. Volunteers are needed to assist with teaching, registrations, arts & crafts, meals and creative arts. You can sign up at the Information Center to volunteer today! Freedom School - June 18 - July 27 - Volunteers Needed -The SEUCC-CDF Freedom School is scheduled Monday through Friday, June 18 - July 27. This is an awesome literacy program for students in grades K-12. Volunteers are needed for reading aloud to classes, distributing meals and assisting in other areas. Climbing Upward Scholarship Program - Applications Due Today - This scholarship program will be granting one (1) deserving high school student a $1,000 award that will be renewable for up to three years, and three (3) adults returning to college or continue their current studies, a one-time $500 award. If you are a SEUCC member and interested in applying, detailed scholarship information packets and applications are available at the Information Center. All applications and supporting information must be submitted to the Go Ministry Mailbox (West Building Coat Room) today. Freedom School Applications - The SEUCC-CDF Freedom School is a tuition-free 6-week Summer Literacy Program designed for young scholars who will have completed kindergarten through grade 11 this school year. Applications are available in the Atrium today. There is an application fee of $30 per household for the 1st child and $5 for each additional child. Completed applications with registration fees will be accepted at the church beginning May 1 (incomplete applications will not be considered). Submission of all applications will be accepted until all class slots are filled. Acceptance into the program will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Applications MUST be completed and submitted with the registration fee (incomplete applications will not be considered). Application pick up and drop off will be at South Euclid United Church of Christ, East Building Welcome Center, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fifth Monday Meal Tomorrow, April 30 - 2:30 p.m. - The Fifth Monday Meal is from 2:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at New Life at Calvary Presbyterian Church, at 2020 East 79th St. in Cleveland. We are seeking people to assist with setting up, serving, cooking and cleaning up. Please sign up at the Information Center for a time slot and an area of interest. Women’s Association Project - May 7 - The Women’s Association is teaming with The Bair Foundation which provides Journey Bags for children who are in foster care. The Foundation needs pajamas, sweat shirts, pants and toiletry items. Please pick up a list of needed items in the Atrium at Church Happenings. We will collect your donations on Sunday, May 6 in the Atrium.
Justice Ministry - Please Vote May 8 - Please remember to vote on Primary Election Day May 8! Polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you have registered for Early Voting, you may vote now. Church Membership Updates Due May 20 - The Deacon Ministry, in accordance with our church constitution, has begun the process of updating our church membership. Before worship, you will be given a Member Information Form which must be completed and returned at the end of the worship to room 153/154. Please do not take a form if you have already completed one. If you are, or know of someone who is, unable to physically pick up a form please share that information with a deacon. Under no circumstance can you take a form to an individual. Please do not mail forms to the church. Failure to complete and return the form can result in your name being removed from our membership database. We appreciate your cooperation in assisting us with this process. Forms are due by Sunday, May 20.
B-SQUARED / Summit Has Been Extended Through May 30 - We are excited that the B-Squared (Bible and Basketball) Summit will be extended through May 30. Over 35 youth are participating in sharpening their spiritual and physical skills during the same programming. The Bible lessons take place for the first part at The Summit. Then the students will proceed to the gym for basketball. There is still room for more to participate and the youth MUST have completed permission slips to do so. Wednesday in the Word Small Groups - Wednesday in the Word Small Groups will be held Wednesdays, at 12 noon and 6 p.m. There are 5 classes at 6 p.m. from which to choose: 1) “From the Ground Up: Foundations of the Faith,” 2) “5 Lies that Ruin Relationships” 3) An Undivided Heart For God " Growing up in our Faith:" and 4) Not Just Believing But Belonging. The 12-noon class is entitled, “The I Factor.” Small groups will run for 4, 6 or 8 weeks depending on the study. Small group descriptions and specific dates are available at the Information Center. Wellness Matters Ministry -The Well Cleveland -7 Weeks Project to Wellness is under way. Each week focuses on a specific area of wellness. It's a fun and easy way to engage in healthy behaviors. Participants record points on an easy to use app. The event culminates with a huge celebration at University Circle's Parade the Circle on June 9.
