The February Beacon Newsletter - Available Today - We are asking that those without computer access, to please pick up a copy of The Beacon at Church Happenings. Members who are able are asked to read or download The Beacon off the website (www.southeucliducc.org, then click the word, News).
Black History Musical -There are several volunteer opportunities for the Black History Musical, Friday, February 23, at 7 PM. Positions are: parking assistants, runners, escorts for the performers, and clean-up crew. Sign-up sheets will be at the Information Center today and next Sunday, February 18. Volunteers should plan to attend orientation Thursday, February 22, from 6 to 7 p.m. If you have questions, contact Carol Stocchi at firstname.lastname@example.org and Rev. Cory Jenkins.
Black History Musical - February 23 - 7 PM - Please join us for the Black History Musical, directed by Dr. David Thomas, on Friday, February 23, 7 p.m., in the SEUCC Sanctuary. The theme is “Resistance, Resilience, and Renewal: The Role of Music in the African-American Struggle for Justice and Equality. “Performers include local jazz and R&B standouts such as Evelyn Wright, Reggie Kelly, Myisha Godfrey, and Rich Lucky and Retrospect, as well as the Vine Choir and dancers from the Cleveland School of the Arts. Sign-Up to Participate in SEUCC's 40 Days/40 Ways! - This year, we encourage you to not only give up some “thing” for Lent, but also give to some “one” through our church-wide hunger initiative, 40 Days/40 Ways. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 14, SEUCC will be participating in a hunger relief project every day of Lent. Each member of SEUCC is asked to participate in at least one day of service. You can volunteer at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, donate to our food drive and/or serve at a food pantry or homeless shelter. You must sign-up to participate; a staffed registration table is located in the Atrium on Sundays. Please know that most all volunteer and service activities require physical activity, including standing and lifting. Joint Ash Wednesday Worship Experience & Soup Fellowship Dinner - Wednesday, February 14 - 7 PM - Please plan to join us at 7 PM in the SEUCC Sanctuary for a joint worship experience with both South Euclid United Church of Christ and Imani United Church of Christ (Euclid), as we begin our time of Lent together. During worship, the imposition of ashes will be administered. Immediately following worship, there will be a soup fellowship dinner (vegan and gluten-free soup options will be available). USO Cookie Project – Sunday, February 18 - The Women’s Association will be collecting cookies for our Veterans on Sunday, February 18. Please see Thelma Visor following both services in the Atrium at Guest Services. These cookies can be homemade, or store bought. If homemade, please indicate on the container. The cookies will be given to Cleveland Hopkins Airport USO. If you have any questions, please see Thelma Visor.
Teen Movie Outing - February 18 - 3:15 PM - The Youth Ministry is planning a Teen Outing to see the movie “Black Panther” in 3D on Sunday, February 18 at 3:15 PM and the cost is $10 per person youth who is in the Youth Ministry. All Teens and Youth Leaders MUST sign up at the information center no later than next Sunday, February 11, if you wish to attend. Sankofa Sunday - February 25 - 9:55 AM & 12 Noon - Please join us on Sunday, February 25, as we observe our African American heritage. Our guest speaker is Rev. Dr. Teresa Fry Brown. Please come dressed in African attire only if you feel comfortable to do so.
Requesting Giving Statements: DEADLINE February 28 - This year, Giving Statements for tax documents will be distributed only upon request for various reasons. If you would like a copy of your statement, please complete this online form, bit.ly/2DG1XxA. Upon receipt of your request, Giving Statements will be sent by USPS Postal Service or electronically by email. If you are unable to access the request form online, a limited number of paper copies will be available at the Information Center. The Summit: Youth Ministry Small Group Continues - Wednesdays - 6 PM - We are EXCITED to provide a place called “The Summit” where youth ages 6 to 18 can gather for faith development to have their lives challenged so they can be equipped. They will discuss real life issues that they encounter daily; learn how to interpret them and respond from a Christian and faith perspective. Snacks will be provided.
