The BIN Food Pantry
South Euclid United Church of Christ is excited to launch it's newest program named The BIN Food Pantry, reflecting the congregation’s desire to Bless, Inspire and Nurture the hungry in nearby communities.
The BIN Food Pantry will be open every second Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to distribute food items. Groceries will be provided at no cost on a first-come, first serve basis. Neighbors in the surrounding commmunities of South Euclid, Lyndhurst, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland and Richmond Heights are eligible with identification and proof of residency. Distribution of food will take place in the Athletic Center of the church, located at 4217 Bluestone Road (at Belvoir) in South Euclid.
In establishing this new hunger initiative, South Euclid United Church of Christ is partnering with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, allowing the church to stretch its dollars to provide more food to people in need.
“According to statistics from the Cleveland Food Bank, nearly one in five Cuyahoga residents lives in poverty,” said Courtney Clayton Jenkins, Senior Pastor and Teacher. “Our congregation feels called to help the hungry, as instructed in Deuteronomy 15:11, which says ‘Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land.’ And this is one way we can help, making a meaningful difference in the community.”
